I work with toddlers under age 2 in a day care. The wall next to the changing table is decorated with pictures of various animals. When changing diapers, I ask questions about the pictures, like "is this a cow" and "what does the cow say?" Of course, they do their best to answer and imitate the animal I'm pointing to.

Recently, while changing one little girl, I pointed to the cat. "Is that a kitty cat?" I asked. She nodded, so I proceeded to the next question. "What does the cat say?" Immediately, she started kicking her leg and saying "git, git!" It took me a couple of seconds to realize that she was trying to tell the cat to "go away."

Obviously, she is not a "cat person."
